The Catch January 2021

Hello! Welcome to the latest issue of "The Catch",

published by Nassau's best rowing club.

Winter 2021 Programs are underway!

This month, Nassau Rowing Club welcomed a record amount of Learn to Row youth and adults! With the help of Junior team members, these intrepid new rowers learn the basics of rowing, backing, turning, and stopping. They will progress and learn various drills as the term goes on.

If you missed this session, Spring 2021 begins on 3 April through 5 June. Please contact Coach Kulig at 823-7425 for more information.

Congratulations to NRC member Elizabeth Hall on her commitment to Rollins College!

Elizabeth has been rowing with NRC since early 2019, where she learnt to row in the 2 weeks prior to her novice season at St. Andrew’s School in Delaware as a sophomore. In that time, Elizabeth has competed in the finals at the Delaware/Maryland Championships, the semi-finals at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta in Philadelphia, PA and many other competitive regattas in the Mid-Atlantic. Even though Elizabeth’s 11th grade season with St. Andrew’s Crew was cancelled, she continued to train on Lake Cunningham and back in Ontario, Canada while also focusing her time on recruiting.

After receiving interest across all 3 NCAA Divisions, Elizabeth accepted an offer to row for Rollins College, the small liberal arts college located in Winter Park, Florida, for their NCAA Division II Women’s Rowing Team. Elizabeth will be training under Head Coach, Shawn Pistor starting in August 2021. Elizabeth is intending to major in Psychology, Economics or Political Science at Rollins.

Currently living in The Bahamas, Elizabeth trains with Nassau Rowing Club's Collegiate and Prep School squad, volunteers with Learn to Row programs, and provides social media images and support. We are so proud to send Elizabeth off to college, knowing that she will always be a short flight away. Thank you and All the best!
