The Catch 14/10/2019
Hello! Welcome to the latest issue of "The Catch", published fortnightly for Nassau's best rowing club.
Juniors Medal in Miami!
Seven members of NRC's Junior Team travelled to Miami Beach this weekend to compete in the Head of the Indian Creek Invitational Regatta.
This was the first race for three of the rowers, David Roy, Lawson Major, and Jessica Proffitt. Second-season Novices Jackson Mamock, Leila Valerius, Sascha Proffitt, and Lily Rose Jamieson made up the rest of the boys and girls quads, respectively. A Miami Beach rower, Ellis Landauer, joined our squad as bow man in the Boys 4x.
These Novice rowers earned a gold medal (girls) and silver (boys). New friends and connections were made amongst the rowers and coaches alike, as well as old acquaintances reunited. We hope to make this regatta an annual race for us. Thank you to Miami Beach RC for hosting!
NRC Alumni at HOCR
On Sunday, 20 October 2019, William Stanhope will compete in the 55th annual Head of the Charles Regatta, on the Charles River, between the shores of Boston and Cambridge Massachusetts.
Stanhope will race for Florida Institute of Technology in the the Championship 4+. His race is at 1:45 PM, and live streaming can be found at https://www.rowingchannel.com/.
We wish Mr. Stanhope and his teammates the best of luck!
Jollification / ERGATHON
Nassau RC will once again have a booth at Jollification! Please stop by and visit us, to learn more about the amazing rowing programs we offer, and meet the coach and members.
This year, we will be holding our ERGATHON at the booth as well. Rowers will have ergs set up and will have pledged to row a certain distance. Sit down and try one out!
Proceeds will be used to help support rowers who wish to join the team, or travel to regattas, but need scholarship funds to do so. NRC offers rowing for all.
