The Catch 10/06/2019

June 11, 2019

Hello!  Welcome to the latest issue of "The Catch", published fortnightly

for Nassau's best rowing club.

TRIVIA NIGHT!

We look forward to seeing you this Thursday night at The Green Parrot on East Bay St!

*NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE*

Special guest, and first Bahamian Olympian in Rowing, Emily Morley, will be joining us to host a few rounds.  Emily was Board President of Nassau Rowing Club and is currently living in Atlanta.  Bring a friend, or 5!  See you there.

SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION IS OPEN

Spots are filling up for the first two weeks!  Call or email today to reserve your space. Ages 11+ with no prior experience are welcomed to attend.  Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.  We have a fun summer planned for you!

FIRST BAHAMAS NATIONAL TRUST TRIATHLON A SUCCESS!

Thank you to all of the rowers and members of Nassau Rowing Club who volunteered or competed in the first BNT Triathlon.

On this small island, we are stronger together when supporting each other through conservation and water sports. Bonefish Pond National Park was gorgeous. Thanks to Chantal Curtis for organizing and executing this fun event!

Adrienne Garner finishes first of the female competitors in the kayak, and Kathryn de Souza crosses the finish line strong.  Viviane Proffitt rounded out the Female Relay Team "Tri Crew".

Crachante Laing and David Moldovan hold the finish line sign for the competitors.

Jacqueline Derbyshire raced as an individual competitor.  Well done, all!

ETHAN STANHOPE WINS GOLD IN CANADA

Congrats to Ethan Stanhope and the Brentwood College School Junior Boys crew for an excellent showing at the Canadian National Championships Regatta!

Stanhope competed in 2 events:

1. Gold in the senior men’s quad (6:26.9)

(pictured, Stanhope on R)

2. Fourth in the senior men’s double (7:00.18), missing out on bronze by 0.5 sec!

Ethan and his brother William, who both learned to row at Nassau RC, will be competing in FISA Junior Championships and the Under-23 Championships during this year's international racing season.

ADULT PROGRAMS - SUMMER AND BEYOND!

Why should the kids have all the fun? Nassau Rowing Club offers programs for adults too!

Due to popular demand, our Adult Learn to Row will also be offered over the summer.

Please join us Saturday mornings from 8:30 - 10 AM, and have a jump in the lake afterwards.

Starting in September, "Mom's Mornings"* will be offered during the week, after school drop off, or for those who work from home with a flexible schedule.

(*you don't need to be a mom to join!)
